Soul in the City 2025
Soul in the City is a unique opportunity for youth to participate in God's kingdom work in Houston, serving alongside one another at worksites and in various not-for-profits and ministries. In the past, outreach has included working with food pantries, homeless ministries, home renovations, and special needs centers.
Hosted at St. Timothy's, this week is designed for intentional discipleship grounded in solid biblical teaching and Anglican tradition. Through study, discussion, service, worship, and fun, 6th - 12th graders will have the opportunity to build relationships, grow their own faith, and share with others the same love of Christ that has been shared with them.
As it says in 1 Peter 4:10, "Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others as good stewards of the varied grace of God." Every person involved in Soul in the City, including you, brings certain gifts, skills, and a presence that will be an integral part of blessing the city of Houston. Registration is open! Information and pricing is below. Don't miss the chance to be a part of it!
We are praying now for you, for all involved in Soul in the City, for the ministries with whom we will be working, and for Houston, and we are hoping with eager expectation and excitement that God will work in mighty, surprising, and miraculous ways through this adventure!

Psalm Singing Workshop at Oak Forest Church
Details
The Psalter is a Spirit-inspired hymnbook. When we sing the Psalter, we sing the words of God, which have the power to revive the church and transform the world. When we neglect the Psalter, we do so to our own detriment.
Psalm singing may not (probably won't) harmonize with your preferred style/genre of music, and to be honest, it may not be the most emotionally stirring experience (at least not at first). But it's nevertheless true that we become what we sing. Faithful, deep, Spirit-filled songs cultivate faithful, deep, Spirit-filled Christians.
In this seminar, Paul Buckley will explore the biblical, theological, and practical reasons for singing the Psalms. But more importantly, he will teach us to sing them.
Lunch provided.
Childcare available for ages 1-7.

DWGC Youth Retreat
Details
Winter Retreat is a weekend that encourages Jr High and High school students in their faith while spending time in community.
The focus for this year’s Retreat is “Devoted to God” and we will be talking about how we can respond and devote ourselves to God in Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength.
Throughout the weekend, students will participate in worship, large group teaching, small group discussion, prayer stations, and free time in the outdoors, and some board games as well.
Who: Any student in 6th to 12th grade in the Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast and their friends can register for this event.
Where: Camp Lonestar in La Grange, Texas
Cost: The cost per person is $145. Most churches will have scholarships available, so check with your youth minister first.
Registration: Before registering, please check with leaders from your church to ensure they will be accompanying your student. Parents should register their students on our planning center page and fill out the release forms they will be directed to. This helps ensure the leaders of the retreat can plan accordingly.
What our students have to say about it:
"One of my most favorite things about winter retreat is the opportunity to spend time with the Spirit through worship, prayer, reflection, and more. Communicating with God, spending time with the Spirit, and dwelling in His presence will leave such a transformative impact on your walk with Christ! Also, fellowship with friends from other churches and meeting new people makes the trip so memorable!" -Olivia R. (Senior)
"I love winter retreat because it gives me a chance to see people that I don't get to see very often. Also I like winter retreat because it helps me grow closer to God and I always learn so much. It's also really great to get away from my phone for a weekend." -Jake M. (Freshman)

Men's Conference: The Death of Porn: Men of Integrity Building a World of Nobility
A Men’s Conference
Friday, May 6th (7:00-8:30)- Saturday, May 7th, 2022 (8:30-12:30)
Sponsored by the Anglican Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, the Simeon Society, and Seven Mile Road - Houston
Pornography may seem like an overwhelming and inescapable part of our lives and culture, but God can free us from its destructive power. The gospel replaces the dehumanizing lies of pornography with this surprising truth: God created us as royalty. How then can we reclaim our God-given identity to take a stand against—and ultimately starve—the predatory porn industry?
In the new highly acclaimed The Death of Porn, Dr. Ray Ortlund writes six personal letters, as from a father to his son. The book itself is ideal for individuals and small groups, it gives hope to men who have been misled by porn into devaluing themselves and others. Through Scripture and personal stories, Ortlund assures readers that God loves them the most tenderly in their moments of deepest shame. The Death of Porn inspires men to come together in new ways to fight the injustice of porn and build a world of nobility for every man and woman—for the sake of future generations.
Come and spend time with Dr. Ray Ortlund, Bishop Clark Lowenfield, and Pastor Jeremiah Morris, along with other church leaders, as we learn and pray about how we can truly make a difference as followers of Christ, discovering our God-given Integrity, and how it can Build a World of Nobility
(To be held on the campus of Seven Mile Road – Houston – 4701 Dickson Street)
